Overview
CU Sarawak 2023 marked a milestone in the region’s fashion and creative industry, bringing together talent, culture, and innovation. Organized by The Generations, our digital marketing and PR agency took the lead in event management, ensuring a seamless and impactful experience. The fashion show, a centerpiece of the event, attracted attendees from across the world, with all 270 tickets selling out. Designed to empower youth and elevate Sarawak’s fashion scene, the event showcased 15 newly debuted designers, including international talents from Indonesia. The runway featured 32 professional adult models alongside 12 locally scouted child models, solidifying the event’s commitment to nurturing local talent.
Beyond the runway, our digital marketing expertise played a critical role in amplifying the event’s reach. Engaging content, strategic social media campaigns, and influencer collaborations helped generate widespread attention, positioning Sarawak as a rising fashion hub. With the support of key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Tourism, Sarawak Tourism Board, and UNESCO Kuching City of Gastronomy, the CU Sarawak 2023 Fashion Show demonstrated the power of digital engagement in elevating creative industries.
The Challenges
Executing a high-profile fashion show came with unique challenges. Coordinating multiple stakeholders—including government bodies, international designers, and emerging models—required meticulous planning and seamless communication. From handling visa arrangements for international participants to ensuring a smooth flow of rehearsals and fittings, every detail had to be perfected.
Another significant challenge was ensuring meaningful career pathways for local talents. With limited industry exposure, many models and designers needed additional support beyond the event itself. Our team worked closely with KL Fashion Week and AirAsia Group to provide opportunities for Sarawak’s talents, helping selected models secure spots at KLFW 2023 and guiding others toward careers in the airline industry. This holistic approach reinforced our commitment to sustainability in talent development.

Selected models and designers secured spots at KL Fashion Week 2023, while others transitioned into careers with AirAsia as air stewards and stewardesses.
